Are you sensing a wake-up call that aims to push you into living more passionately, being your authentic self, or healing your mind, body, and soul? Often, the call can appear in three different forms, and each is more forceful than the previous. If action is not taken early enough, the call can grow from a stirring, to a warning, to an urgency. Let’s take a closer look at the 3 classes of wake-up calls.
1) A stirring: Somehow feeling unfulfilled
· Bored
· Less than satisfied
· Missing something, yearning
· Feeling a bit asleep, or not fully alive
· Feeling more like a passenger than a driver
· Craving more significance, relevance, substance, or impact
· Sensing you have outgrown things
2) A warning: Sensing an unacceptable situation
· Stressed to the point of despair
· Feeling stuck, powerless, struggling and hopeless
· Feeling on the edge of a burnout or a breakdown
3) An urgency: A crisis urging you to change
· Suffering from one or more health issues (physical and/or mental)
· Grieving from losing something cherished (eg, a marriage, a loved one, a job, a home)
· Recovering from a recent trauma or tragedy
Personal transformation demands self-improvement that can only be done with an open mind. It will require honest reflection, and a holistic approach.
You may need to identify the best course of action how to get your life back on track. Your authentic self insists that you express yourself, and live your best life now. The following will no longer be tolerated:
· Living in denial, sugar-coating, or glossing-over what is miserable
· Suppressing your emotions, ignoring your needs
· Passively choosing the status quo, settling for second best
· Distracting yourself with stuff that makes you temporarily high or numb
A personal needs assessment should use a holistic approach to nurture wellness, considering many factors how to nourish your body, mind, and spirit.
